Unwelcome bills, long lines in payment centers, unexpected disconnections and illegal connections—these are some of the common problems that electricity consumers and providers experience monthly.
The Xen Energy System Inc. or XESi, during a discussion with The Manila Times last week, announced that burdens of paying monthly bills can now easily be solved through a “prepaid meter” system.
Ariel de la Cruz, the president of XESI, told The Times that people can now “load” their own electric meters in convenience stores and sari-sari (variety) stores in the same way that they load their cell phones.
According to de la Cruz, the prepaid meter system will function with the use of a SIM card that will be placed in a concentrator.
Through the system, he said, “a consumer can monitor how much electricity he or she consumes in a day.”
De la Cruz added that the prepaid electric meter is patterned after prepaid technology used by telecommunication companies.
